Evolution of European Architecture
Medium
Watercolor on Cardboard, Styrofoam on Paper
The images presented in this artwork is a representation of different
architectural styles’ elements from 13 different time periods (Ancient Greece,
Ancient Rome, Gothic, Byzantine, two different Renaissance architectures,
Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism, Victorian, 19th Century Art Nouveau
and Modern Era) distinctly classified into its own timeframe, otherwise time
diffraction. It uses styrofoam platform for every other two/three cardboard
cutout and is pasted on a white sheet of A2 paper spray painted with black
spray paint in the middle. The artwork itself uses clear and bold lines that emphasize shape and
form in combination with the many different schemes of colors (prominently
analogous color schemes). The light
water textured touch of brush strokes indicates emphasis in shape over
color as well. It also makes use of three dimensional depth with the different
diffractions and a blank white negative space. There is a clear disregard for
uniform proportion in favor of different highlights of elements of architecture
presented in different closeups, angles, etc.
