Shoe Oddity

The space shoes were based off designs that NASA created for one of their Apollo Missions, but is given a more slender addition to the aesthetics instead of being bulgy. I shattered a few pieces of CD to decorate the back portion of the shoe, otherwise the heel area. Then clay is shaped on the back to give a plain looking heel area, which gives it a more smooth, polished and trendy look to a space shoes. The X sign painted on the top heel of the sneaker is a nod to  pioneering corporation Space X run by Tesla’s Elon Musk. The base of the shoe is a representation of Mars with a good amount of pop culture from Space Invader to David Bowie, to which it brings a surreal style towards the sculpture itself.  Its colour of different shades of red with hints of pink and blue gives off vivid colours, whilst accompanying the rocks of body that is represented with a dark toned red and made out of clay.
