Printmaking of an Old Man
Using a technique in printmaking called drypoint etching, where the bright coloured areas of the picture are etched using an etching pen, I have managed to create the image of an old man after two attempts. This technique creates lines of haziness in an image that could certainly exaggerate the visibility of lines as a means of imitating the wrinkles of an old man. Printmaking also creates a very expressive image in portraying the fragility and seeming loneliness of a man of his age, as evident with the vivid dark coating of dark red paint on the image in contrast with the small, white details that picture out the figure.
